Who is Narendra Modi?
Narendra Modi has been the prime minister of India, representing the BJP since 2014. Prior to this he was chief minister of Gujarat for more than a decade. He is a self-declared Hindu nationalist.
In the words of his supporters, he is a dynamic, strong and patriotic politician. For others, he is an enemy of democracy − a fascist even − who presided over one of the worst episodes of communal violence in recent history. His reign as prime minister has been marked by increasing authoritarianism, suppression of dissent, attacks on minorities, and the erosion of democratic traditions and institutions.
The remaining FAQs and links examine different aspects of Modi's record and leadership, and the organisations and individuals which surround him.
