"Narendra K Amin, one of the key accused policemen in the fake encounter cases of Sohrabuddin Sheikh, his wife Kauser Bi and Ishrat Jahan, who has been under suspension for nearly eight years, was brought back into the police by the Gujarat government on Friday... Amin was arrested by the CID (Crime) on June 6, 2007, and his name emerged as a key accused, along with his senior officers, including D G Vanzara (retired IPS), IPS officer Rajkumar Pandian, Dinesh M N, Rajasthan cadre IPS, among others, who were posted in Anti-terrorist Squad (ATs). The CBI chargesheet claims that Amin was involved in the conspiracy to eliminate Kauser Bi, who was killed since she was an eyewitness of her husband’s killing in November 2005.
Amin has also sought three promotions from the government through his letter, seeking reinstatement after he was released on bail. He had sought three promotions on the lines of co-accused Dinesh M N, who was given triple promotion by the Rajasthan government earlier this year... The chargesheet narrates Amin’s role as, “…Dr NK Amin was not posted in ATS, but was a part of the conspiracy, was in constant touch with accused no 1, 2 (Vanzara and Pandian) and then minister of state Amit Shah (accused number 16). He made/received as many as 25 calls from Amit Shah during the period. “ Shah was discharged from the case by the Mumbai special CBI court in December last year... In Ishrat Jahan case, investigating agency CBI revealed that Amin was among the accused policemen who fired from his service revolver at Ishrat Jahan, her friend Javed Sheikh alias Pranesh Pillai and two Pakistani nationals — Zeeshan Johar and Amjadali Rana — in the stage-managed encounter in 2004."
