'Amid controversy over right wing groups motivating gram sabhas or village councils to adopt resolutions banning non-Hindu religious activities in villages in tribal Bastar, Chhattisgarh government seem to be adopting wait and watch policy on how to deal with the situation.
"Pramod Muthalik of the infamous Sri Ram Sene and Sudin Dhavalikar of the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, Goa’s public works department minister, are not the first to be worried about skirt lengths in Goa. Goa’s parish priests have also had anxious moments, not just over skirts but also revealing wedding dresses... But even anxious parish priests would be startled to hear Dhavalikar argue that skirts were against Goan culture, given that for even the most demure and devout Catholic ladies, ranging in age anywhere between eight and 85, skirts that stop one inch above the knee or five inches below it are de rigueur...
" An aggressive campaign by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad had led to a ban on the entry of and propaganda by non-Hindu missionaries, especially Christians, in more than 50 villages of Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region in the last six months.
"Even as the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and affiliated organisations are shying away from "causing any embarrassment to the Narendra Modi government by making any controversial statements or demands", some extreme rightwing outfits have intensified their strident campaign in a bid to expand their base.
"...The Times of India is the most widely read English newspaper in the subcontinent. It is owned by the Bennett & Coleman Co. Ltd, a group that also publishes Femina. Before release, the filmmakers were asked to remove a promotional clip posted online that focused on the Botox session from the pageant. The original news story at Scoopwhoop still stands, but the YouTube link no longer works. Things only became worse. Perhaps infuriated by the ugly truths tumbling out of their closet because of "The World Before Her," the group apparently boycotted the film on release.
" With the BJP having come to power, Hindu outfits the VHP, the Hindu Yuva Vahini (HYV) and the ABVP, the RSS students’ wing, are going for an organisational expansion in Uttar Pradesh. Separate efforts by the three organisations had helped the BJP win 71 of 80 Lok Sabha seats in the state, where assembly elections are due in 2016. In a recent meeting, HYV head Yogi Adityanath, a BJP MP, set a target of at least one lakh volunteers in each district by September-end. The HYV has 90 units in 75 districts, with an average 7,000 volunteers in each.
"The Durga Vahini is the women’s wing of a Hindu nationalist organization in India — the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. The militaristic camp aims to empower young women to fight for the Hindu nationalist cause and to espouse the traditional roles of women..."

Modi talking to a Muslim journalist: "Your mouths are watering these days at the prospect of creating a Muslim-majority nation in the name of Akhand Bharat. And getting all Muslims together, with the Indian Muslims at their head, to create strife. Isn't this a dream of yours?" http://www.firstpost.com/blogs/reading-narendra-modi-pity-a-pm-candidate...
"The Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s Pravin Togadia has said things that threw the Narendra Modi narrative off, but only for a couple of days... Modi condemned Togadia obliquely, by tweeting: "Petty statements by those claiming to be BJP’s well wishers are deviating the campaign from the issues of development & good governance"... I’m interested in talking about something else, which Modi did not tweet about. What sort of state in India has two decades of Hindutva rule produced where it is easy for Togadia to say what he did in a public gathering?
"Hate speeches show no signs of stopping this election season... now Vishwa Hindu Parishad president Pravin Togadia has also reportedly jumped on the bandwagon by telling people to clear Muslims from areas where a majority of the residents were Hindus. According to a report in Times of India, Togadia had joined a VHP and Bajrang Dal street protest outside a house purchased by a Muslim businessman in Bhavnagar, Rajkot where he urged protesters to storm the house..."
