"In a bizarre move, the administration of a private degree college in Dakshina Kannada, has suspended two female students, after their two year old photos with liquor bottles and cigarettes went viral on WhastApp. girlsThe victims are students of second year Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) at a degree college in Kukke Subhrahmanya on the outskirts of the city. The suspension comes after the students belonging to local unit of ABVP brought the issue to the notice of the college authorities and pressed for action against the 'immoral activities' of the girls in question.

'The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Sunday got around a ban on the entry of its leader Praveen Togadia into Bengaluru, formerly known as Bangalore, by playing a 15-minute video recording at a VHP convention in the state in which Togadia demanded that India should be declared a "Hindu Rashtra". The video started playing before thousands of supporters at the fag-end of the event, catching the police unawares. Though some police personnel climbed on to the stage in an attempt to turn off the video, the organisers refused to reveal where the main power switch was, leaving the police red-faced.

"In a suspected case of hate crime, Bengaluru police arrested three men on Wednesday who reportedly assaulted a Manipuri student with rocks for not speaking the local language. T Michael Lamjathang Haokip was attacked a little after midnight in a part of the city mostly inhabited by migrants, particularly students from the northeast states and Africa. The 26-year-old received wounds to his head and back but doctors said he was out of danger.
