'Videos surfaced on social media on Tuesday evening of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Abhay Verma making rounds of Laxmi Nagar market in his constituency with at least 150 supporters, chanting provocative slogans. Local shopkeepers in Laxmi Nagar confirmed that Verrma had visited the area. The video was tweeted by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s Rajya Sabha Member Sanjay Singh. Verma also happens to be the Delhi BJP vice-president, who defeated AAP’s Nitin Tyagi in the February 8 Assembly elections by a razor-thin margin of 880 votes.
'As a shop was set ablaze in Delhi’s Maujpur area on Monday afternoon, a middle-aged man with a saffron tikka on his forehead repeatedly asked reporters to stop filming the arson. “Bade dinon ke baad Hindu jaaga hai,” he said. “Hindus have woken up after long.” He did not want to identify himself, other than as a supporter of the Citizenship Amendment Act. Since December, India has seen nationwide protests against the amended law, which introduces a religious test for citizenship. Many fear it could be used with the proposed National Register of Citizens to harass Indian Muslims.
'On Monday, one police constable and a civilian were reported killed as reports of arson, gunfire and stone pelting violence came in from the North East Delhi area. Videos also showed the Delhi police standing by as mobs pelted stones. 'A mosque in Ashok Nagar was set on fire late on Tuesday afternoon. A mob shouting “Jai Shri Ram” and “Hinduon ka Hindustan” paraded around the burning mosque, and a Hanuman flag was placed on the minaret of the masjid. In video footage that has since emerged on Twitter, one of the mob is seen climbing up the minaret with an Indian flag in his hand. He attempts to pull down a section of the minaret but does not apparently succeed...'

'On Sunday, former Delhi MLA and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kapil Mishra took out a rally against the anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act protest in Jaffrabad, North East Delhi. He also issued a call through Twitter urging people to gather and “prevent another Shaheen Bagh” protest from taking place near the Jaffrabad Metro Station. Soon after, violence broke out between supporters and critics of the new law. Stone pelting reportedly took place from both sides and some vehicles were also damaged.
'Soon after a rally was taken out by BJP leader Kapil Mishra near a demonstration against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act in northeast Delhi’s Jaffrabad on Sunday, clashes erupted between pro- and anti-CAA protesters in the area. Security officials at the spot admitted the violence, including stone-pelting, threatened to take a communal turn, but was controlled.

'Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia will not be part of an event next week when US First Lady Melania Trump is likely to watch a "happiness class" at a Delhi government school, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) sources said. Party sources alleged that Mr Kejriwal's and Mr Sisodia's names were dropped from the event by the central government. According to the earlier plan, Mr Kejriwal and Mr Sisodia, who were re-elected this month for the third time in Delhi after a huge election victory, were scheduled to welcome Melania Trump at the south Delhi government school.
