Information and analysis about Narendra Modi, current chief minister of Gujarat, and possible future prime minister of India.
Who is Narendra Modi?
Narendra Modi is the current chief minister of Gujarat, a state in Western India with a population of about 60 million people. He is a self-declared Hindu nationalist, and the prime ministerial candidate for the BJP in the current (2014) Indian General elections.
In the words of his supporters, he is a "dynamic administrator", a "visionary", "principled", "patriotic", and "one of the most affable and sought after politicians in India". Some even call him a God (see the last FAQ for sources). For others, he is an enemy of democracy − a fascist even − who presided over, and was complicit in, one of the worst episodes of communal violence in recent history.
The remaining FAQs and links examine different aspects of Modi's record and leadership in more detail.
